Why do people lie about things they do not need to lie about

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

then you wonder why you are with a liar and what else have they lied about

Some people lie about things thay they do not need to lie about beacuse they feel that if they tell you the honest story, it would not impress you. So they lie you to make it seem like they have more of an interesting life. And some people, as well, are complusive liars.

But what I’ve found is people lie to impress other people, because they prefer to feel superior, like an alpha, to the person they are lying to. But I guess it depends on the situation. Some people just lie so much it becomes a habit. Almost like cracking your knuckles or smoking.

Why is the cost of living so high?

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

All I want is a nice rental home so I can finally have some level of independence. However, with my pay rate (9.60/hr) and my already existing bills (approx. 360/month) make it near impossible to ever be able to afford to live on my own. What can I do short of getting a dozens roommates?

Inflation. Rising energy, food and oil prices is causing inflation to grow rapidly.

Why did man develope bipedalism?

Friday, August 1st, 2008

theories will be much appreciated

f you do not want to entertain the idea that humans were created as bipedal beings, then you might want to reverse your question and ask How did species with bipedalism develop into humans?

Human beings have always been bipedal. This is one of the traits of Homo sapiens sapiens, even back to the earliest specimens found. The Omo-1 site has been dated to about 195,000 years ago.

But prior to 200,000 BCE, there is much evidence for both obligate and facultative bipedalism among hominids.

Homo habilis and Homo erectus had obligate bipedalism and habilis is believed to have made and used tools.

One of the best known examples is specimen AL-288-1, commonly called Lucy. With about 40% of her skeleton being found, there seems to be no doubt that she walked on two legs. A member of Australopithecus afarensis, she is dated to about 3.2 million years old.

Specimen KP-271 identified as as Australopithecus anamensis (a human like hominid) showed evidence of bipedalism and has been dated to about 4.0 million years old.

Perhaps older species started with rising on their hind legs to get a better view (like a prairie dog or a meerkat) and later used a squatting position in order to better manipulate one or more objects (like a rat, raccoon or beaver).

Standing on hind legs also gave another advantage. The being could now use its forelegs (arms) in a fight (like a bear uses it’s claws). With hands, however, it could now hold a weapon. Is it a coincidence that a human holding a weapon is said to be armed?

The development of bipedalism seems to have been linked to the increase cranial size in hominids. This is not true for other mammals.

How Does Counterfeit money wrech an economies?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I heard that counterfeit money can ruin an economy, but I can’t realy understand how and why. Can you explain this.

Supply and Demand. If there is more paper money available in an economy (the supply of money increases), then that devalues the “real” value of each dollar. It then takes more dollars to buy the same amount of a product (i.e. prices rise). This is called inflation.

People also loose confidence in currency which may force them to choose to deal in other assets, reducing the liquidity of wealth.

Also if you find that you possess counterfeit money, you cannot “trade” that money in for legitimate currency, so you’re stuck owning worthless paper

the more money there is in an economy the more things cost. Too many dollars chasing too few goods. The government regulates the amount of money that is in the economy.
when an outside source starts introducing money into an economy the government can’t regulate, that will drive up prices, and ruin an economy.

a. equal to marginal revenue
b. greater than marginal revenue
c. less than marginal revenue
d. greater than total revenue

Greater than marginal revenue. Supernormal profits can still be made since products do still retain a degree of differentiation.

Do the Japanese feel superior to other races/ethnicities?

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I know all Japanese aren’t like this, because I have cousins that are mixed with black/native American and Japanese…..

But I’m reading a book by Kenji Yoshino, a homosexual Japanese-American professor. The book is titled: ‘Covering :The Hidden Assault on our Civil Rights.’

What caught my interest was his writing:

‘The Japanese believe they are a race apart, proclaiming their blood more pure than that of other peoples.’

What would cause any race/ethnicity to arrive at this conclusion about themselves?

This was something that the fascist Japanese leaders in the first part of the 20th century said, to indoctrinate Japanese citizens into supporting imperialist goals. If one believes oneself to be inherently superior to others, then one can justify all kinds of appaling actions. However, following Japan’s defeat at the end of World War II, such rhetoric was mostly abandoned. Most see it for the B.S. that it is. And so it’s a vast overgeneralization to say that “the Japanese” believe this. Many people believed it at a certain point in history, in support of a certain agenda, but most no longer believe it.

Best ways to present yourself in the most respectful fashion?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

so that men have no choice but to respect you?

Hair
Fashion/Clothes
Behavior
Mannerisms, etc.

Someone always has the choice to not respect you. You can feel like you are confident, they can think you are conceited. You can behave nice, they can think you are fake. Everyone has a choice, nothing you can do.

——

look em in the eye, never look down ,speak up, make idle talk to break the ice but NEVER talk bad about another person, employer, family member etc. shake hands when you first meet someone, man or woman it doesnt matter. SMILE.shoulders back, tummy in, chin straight.
rehearse what you will talk about before hand. think of all questions they could possibly ask you and be ready to give them an answer. if its a bad answer dont give them that answer, tell them what they want to hear. If you did something wrong, if a mess up at work/school was your fault, be the first to say” i wasnt aware that i was doing that/i did that etc and apologize.
If you dont have anything intelligent to say…dont say anything at all.
Theres an old saying that goes…”Its better to be quiet and let them think your a fool then open your mouth and prove them right”.
being clean and tidy is good, it helps but the way you carry yourself is what matters most.
You always have to appear in control and confident even if you are not at all.DONT EVER LET THEM SEE YOU SWEAT

how i approach new environments

If you’re talking about the business world, it’s generally accepted that covering yourself up will command more respect than showing more skin, also, dressing in classic clothes rather than teenagerish outfits and following trends is best. As for really earning respect, you need to earn it. You should follow the golden rule to gain basic human respect, but that is no guarantee that everyone will respect you. Not everyone has home training. Just be yourself, but show respect and try to use a minimum of profanity and slang terms.

What are the social effects?

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

What are the sociological effects of being a member of Generation I or The Net Generation?

Is there an extreme difference between them and Gen Y who saw the rise of the internet in their early to mid teens?

Does the net generation share the distrust of government and the general pessimistic outlook for the future of humanity that is considered to characterize gens X and Y

I just happened to browse some of your questions, The Vet, and I found this question rather interesting.

Here’s what I found from a recent book by Reynol Junco and Jeanna Mastrodicasa:

- 97% own a computer
- 94% own a cell phone
- 76% use Instant Messaging.
- 15% of IM users are logged on 24 hours a day/7 days a week
- 34% use websites as their primary source of news
- 28% author a blog and 44% read blogs
- 49% download music using peer-to-peer file sharing
- 75% of college students have a Facebook account
- 60% own some type of portable music and/or video device such as an iPod.

(It doesn’t stop here. The list will go on until Nanotechnology will become a lifestyle…)

By that survey alone, you can already see the sociological effects of the “Net Generation”.

Pretty much convincing, eh? But the truth is, the Net Generation focuses on the activity, not the specific technology, that enables them to do it. It’s not text messaging, instant messaging and e-mailing. It’s talking, collaborating and engaging. It is the largest in American history — over 100 million and counting — and its intuitive use of technology is quickly changing how teachers teach and workplaces work.

Recent demographic and related research endows members of X and Y generations with particular attitudinal and behavioral characteristics. There are a number of lifestyle as well as career characteristics. Generation X looks more to a series of work-related experiences interspersed with ‘lifestyle’ events such as cross-cultural learnings. Generation Y employees begin and may stay with part-time employment. Generation Y sees the multi-scheduling of personal priorities and work experience as the expected state-of-affairs over a working life.

Seriously, what is wrong with men?

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007
  1. I’m sorry for what you’ve had to go through, but, no, not all guys are jerks
  2. Perhaps you need to meet some males worthy of your attention. We’re not all that way.
  3. I agree that not ALL men are jerks, but it seems like all the men you have met are. You need a change of scenery girl. Get out of that hell you call “home” and you may start to meet some decent people (even guys)
  4. You have a very common life.Know that your story isnt very different than than the next woman. What i say is if you always look where you always look you will always get what you get.Try newer surroundings. And good luck!
  5. You tell me what makes all men in your life like this. if you can’t change them for better don’t let them change you. have a faith and try to make your life better always.

believe it or not there are some fantastic men out there, you just have to know where to look. nobody can make excuses for what has happened to you, and none of it is your fault. your brother is probably harbouring some issues though, regarding the father and step father situation, as you probably know, your father and step father would have been the role models for your brothers behaviour. this doesnt make it right though. maybe you should talk to him, him may not even know he is the way he is. you also need to talk to someone (ie a psychotherapist) about what has happened to you, if you havent already, they will help you deal with what happened as well as give you some more self confidence. as for the boys at your school, all boys are like that, and maybe making friends with some girls wouldnt be a bad idea, but be choosy, as you will probably confide in them your deepest darkest secrets. as for the guy who told you to go away, it could be that he had more on his mind thatn you know about, and he is finding it hard to deal with his problems as well as yours (he could have been a bit nicer though). you never know, he might have been the nice guy you are looking for and may care about you a hell of a lot, which then it would hurt him to see you in so much pain.
sorry about the long winded reply, but i hope i helped.

  1. hang in there.youve just had one hell of a life so far.were not all assholes.i wish the best for you because more than likely your going to or probably already do have major trust issues when it is going to involve us.i wish i could of been the most recent friend of yours because what i need more than anything right now is a female friend.not trying to get a laugh from the guys.lifes a strange place.it’ll be alright.it’ll all work out.
  2. Really, not all of them are jerks, but the majority are. Don’t worry you are 17 you will meet a lot of good guys. May be you need to try some time to avoid friendship with men. See what will happen, may be you need to take your time.
  3. After reading your post…
I’m sorry that you had to go through all that…
Try joining a “support”-group, as in just a group of people coming together having some fun.
I’m a Christian youth leader, and we have a youth programme.
I’m sure you could probably find something somewhere that would fit you.

By the way. I believe everything happens for a reason. Keep your chin up. Stay positive.
If you get through this, you will be an ambassador for women who have the same problems. And perhaps you can even help them. Let that motivate you.
But first. Help yourself. You are strong. You CAN get through this.

  4. U have gone through some big difficulties! All I can say is ur plain unlucky regards to males. Hope you find a nice person soon.
