Renting textbooks is a way to save money

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

With the prices of everything going up, a student pays hundreds of dollars on textbooks these days, apart from the college tuition fees and many other miscellaneous fees; education has become very costly. A traditional way to save money on books was to borrow textbooks from senior students or from the college bookstore. Now there is an option of online textbook rentals. This can make college education less expensive as it saves the cost of books. A student goes to the web and searches for textbooks of his choice and can rent textbooks for the period he chooses.

The text book rentals turn out to be lesser than buying a new or used textbook, you save at least half the cost. Most of these rental sites offer four, five flexible rental periods to choose from. The students have the buyout option, which means he can choose to buy the textbook at anytime during the rental period, if the student does not feel like giving it up. After the rental period is over, the textbook is shipped back to the rental company free return postage. This method is environmental friendly also and you save on a lot of paper as you are recycling books.

Party Stationery

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

I had no idea that there was such lovely stationery available for parties, until I was shopping recently for some place card holders. In the past, I found it quite difficult to find things like this, that suited my taste and that were reasonably priced. It seems that there must be a much bigger demand for this sort of thing lately as there is such a fantastic range of things. I was almost annoyed at the range as it took me so long to choose what I wanted, but it was great to have so many beautiful things there.

I was also looking for a nice favor and I managed to find something to match which was really great. It is lovely to be able to throw a nice party and have all of these lovely things to be able to put on the table for my guests to enjoy. I was really impressed with the range of favors, there were not only wedding ones but ones for all types of party even baby shower favors. I just have to organise a bouquet of flowers to go in the middle of my table and all of party arrangements will be ready. I cannot wait!

Friday, July 25th, 2008

With everything being computerized in this decade and gone are those days where we stood in long queues in book shop to get books for our academics. In the case of college, the number of books required will be more and which in turn many could not afford to get a own money. Lending from a library can be an option but the stock available is a matter of consideration. Hence with the advancement in technology, internet has made everything possible at a single click. Apart from the availability of e-books, now we can rent textbooks online very easily.

There are many sites where the text books are available for rent that too almost in a lowest price. Many post graduate students can use this opportunity to rent textbooks at a cheaper rate. Also, the students can rent textbook for a whole semester that too saving almost eighty percent of the cost. This type of getting text books for rent is very quick and in some sites we also have the option of booking in advance for the firth coming semesters too. Quickbooks Basics

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Quickbooks revitalized the arena of personal accounting when it was released. It continues to do this today with its advancements in accounting software to make recording one’s finances easier than ever. The beauty of the software has generally been its simplicity. You don’t need to have years of accounting experience or training to understand how to use it. Quickbooks always prides itself on simple forms and making things quick for you.

This doesn’t mean that you should just jump right into the program though. It may be easy in its design, but you will need some Quickbooks training if you really want to get the most out of the software. Getting Quickbooks help should make all your accounting resemble an almost professional quality without any extra cost after the purchase. The level of training you’ll need isn’t set at one level though. You’re personal needs will define your course of study. Someone who wants help tracking their checking account doesn’t need as much help as a small business owner.

But just because you aren’t going to use very little feature, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t get a bit of training to do what you need better without spending a cent.

Textbook Rentals is a Good way to Save the Environment

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Students pay for many different kinds of fees each year—there are tuition fees; laboratory fees; miscellaneous fees; and, of course, the fees for textbooks. Students spend hundreds of dollars annually to pay for this specific need. For practicality’s sake, some great minds have come up with a solution to the ever-increasing prices of new textbooks—textbook rentals.

Students do not only get the chance to sell their used textbooks and gain back some money but they could also help other students who would need the exact same textbooks but at a lower price. And since the rent a textbook idea gives way to recycling, it also saves many trees from being taken down each year. Renting a book would mean lesser waste (with 40% of landfills comprising of paper wastes). So this idea does not only save money but also a lot of forests from being denuded!

A good way to rent textbook is to go online. There are many online shops that now offer used books (and occasionally some new ones) at a much lower price. Students have the option to have the books shipped (where they would get the physical book) or they could just download the e-book version. Again, once a textbook is downloaded, hundreds of pages are saved and fewer trees are killed. So this school year, choose the better alternative—rent your textbooks and help save the environment.

How can the human race survive the next hundred years?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

In a world that is in chaos politically, socially and environmentally, how can the human race sustain another 100 years?

Political and social chaos has been with us for a very long time. Given the revolutions of the past and present, class warfare, and scheming of those seeking power, the human race has shown a remarkable resilience and managed to survive thus far.

The new factors in the equation of the balance of mankind and the rest of nature are the technological advances that have changed how political and social chaos can develop, and the advances in industry that have the potential to inflict serious environmental alterations. Threats of nuclear war, biological catastrophe, and climate change now bring into question as to how humanity can continue to survive.

Personally, I think that with the growth of true threats to survival, there has been growth of human ingenuity as well. We have yet to release a Frankenstein’s monster of technology upon the world. Despite the stockpiles of nuclear weapons, there has been no global warfare. Medical research is in a renaissance of advance. Climate change remains a concern, but I believe that we are an adaptable species, as we have adapted before and will again.

The larger question is how will humanity survive, which is what is asked. It’s very likely that the resources of today may no longer be available in a century. But consider the resources available today that were not available a century before. As stated before, we are an adaptable species, and when one window of resources closes, it’s likely that other windows will be openable.

Of course, the speed that everything progresses at has increased. Will we be able to adapt in time? Perhaps not for a lot of us, but consider that in the 14th century, the Black Death wiped out over a third of Europe’s population. Yet Europe survived and prospered. We may again have a catastophe that has similarly devestating effects, but I feel confident that after the catastrophe, humankind will prosper.

Why do I place this faith in humanity? Because I must. Without the belief that we will continue to grow and overcome the pains of social chaos as we mature as a species, we might as well not have any faith at all. I’m not talking religion (although that may or may not be a part in its current forms), but simply the same belief that we will survive just as much as the sun will rise the next day.

Truthfully, the human race no matter how smart we may appear lack the discipline or forsight to care about the next generation. We humans are so selfish. It is always about our current days existence with little thought to the long term implications. We repeat history all the time and justify our discretions to benefit ourselves. If we make it 100 years it will not be because of our own doing rather dumb luck. If the environment holds we are our biggest threat. We will always have wars. We will always show prejudice to a race of people & we will always struggle with environmental issues. Because as our technological advances continue the humans that have the capability will use that tech for power and greed. . .a race without that tech will suffer racism…and we only care about the environment after disaster . . .we have changed little since the 20’s. Mr. Hawking you and Einstein both know this to be true. It is unfortunate that the humans in power can’t figure out how to get us off of this treadmill that were on.
